Soffit and ceiling insulation can help to create a safer, more comfortable internal environment for those working or living in commercial and residential buildings.

An essential part of any building structure – whether applied to suspended ceilings or soffits – it’s vital for retaining heat, reducing sound transfer and reducing the rate at which fire can spread.

Ceiling Insulation Products

Why do we need ceiling insulation?

As heat rises, it will easily escape through an uninsulated ceiling. The structure and building fabric of a ceiling is critically important and all elements, including insulation, needs to be thought through.

ROCKWOOL is known for exceptional thermal and acoustic properties, but also for its renowned fire resilience capabilities.

ROCKFON offer a comprehensive range of insulated ceiling panels, tiles and grid suspension systems that complement other forms of insulation to improve the heat retention, acoustic performance, fire safety and aesthetics of the building.

As more focus is placed on the safety and comfort of occupants of tall buildings, we encourage specifiers to look beyond the facades and look at the internal compartmentation.

Non-combustible insulation and fire stopping are critical elements to ensure the safety and comfort of occupants where suspended ceilings, tile and grid systems are specified.

We recommend using ROCKFON who offer a range of aesthetic products that provide acoustic and thermal benefits.

There are two types of ceiling insulation:

  • Basement or soffit – High density boards with a foil, tissue face or high impact board finish which can be fixed directly to the soffit. This enhances the soffit’s aesthetics as well as its thermal, acoustic and fire resilience.
  • Suspended– Commonly used in intermediate floors, a new ceiling is created underneath the load bearing floor from a wooden or metal structure. To enhance project requirements, light weight rolls or slabs can be applied to improve the thermal, acoustic and fire performance.

Benefits of ROCKWOOL insulation include:

  • Heat retention1
  • Acoustic absorption2
  • Fire resilient properties3
  • Reduced energy bills

Calculator and savings

Heat rises and can be lost through uninsulated ceilings and soffits. Insulating your ceilings or soffits can quickly lead to energy savings, depending on the size and type of property.

Use our ROCKWOOL U-value calculator  to determine the appropriate thickness required to meet building regulations and the desired performance.

ROCKWOOL ceiling insulation achieves high fire resistance for up to two hours or more, which is especially good for car park and publicly accessible areas. In combination with the remaining floor construction, it enables complete silence in the room above.
