| Roxul Inc. is part of Rockwool International, the world's largest producer of mineral wool insulation with 23 facilities in 14 countries. We have operated our Harrop Drive Head Office and manufacturing facility in Milton, Ontario since 1988.Roxul's western facility is located in Grand Forks, British Columbia and has been in operation since November 1999. Our products are produced from a combination of natural basalt rock and recycled slag. These simple ingredients, combined with Roxul's world-class technology, produce a mineral wool insulation product of the highest quality that is better for the environment. Here are some other "fast facts" about Roxul, and the environmental and safety benefits of our insulation. - Roxul's products are fire resistant, water repellent, non-corrosive, and resistant to mould, fungi and bacteria growth.
- A National Research Council of Canada (NRC) study found that Roxul's mineral wool insulation in wall cavities provides up to a 54% increase in the fire resistance rating of the wall system.
- A European Union study determined that Roxul's products can save more than 100 times the energy used to produce them.
- Insulation currently in place in North American homes saves $74 billion annually in heating and cooling costs.
- The water from our production process is collected and reused in our production process. Last year, this reduced our water consumption by more than 50%.
- In 1998, Roxul installed a state-of-the-art recycling facility that redirects our waste back into the manufacturing process. This has allowed us to reduce our waste significantly. Plus, we've reduced our consumption of raw materials and energy required to produce them.
