Roxul’s CurtainRock is a board insulation specifically designed for use in curtain wall applications. The product can be produced with foil facings or used as a component of UL approved or backpan systems. Antamex International Inc. chose CurtainRock® because it would contribute to valuable LEED® points in the Bankers Court project due to its natural and highly recycled content of basalt rock and steel slag, energy-saving thermal properties, fire resistance, and local distribution to the job site from nearby British Columbia.
Bankers Court showcases premium office space adjacent to Bankers Hall, which houses offices, retail space, a large auditorium, and health facilities. Together, these properties have 2.7 million sq ft of premium space in the heart of downtown Calgary.

LEED Points Summary - Canada
| LEED Category & Credits | Roxul Contribution | Possible Points |
| Energy & Atmosphere | ||
| EA Credit 1: Optimize Energy Performance (in addition to the prerequisite standard for reducing excessive energy use) | Our rock and slag stone wool has higher R-values for superior thermal properties and energy efficiency. Overall contribution depends upon R-value used. Points depend upon on design energy costs compared to the energy of the MNECB or ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1999. | Up to 19 – points depending upon energy saved |
| Materials & Resources | ||
| MR Credit 2: Construction Waste Management Divert 50% from Disposal | Roxul products are dimensionally stable and sag resistant. When removed undamaged, our products may be reused and recycled for other projects. Roxul products are size optimized for fit, enhancing performance and limiting construction waste. | 1 Point |
| MR Credit 2: Construction Waste Management Divert 75% from Disposal | Plus 1 Point | |
| MR Credit 4 Recycled Content 10% | Roxul stone wool consists of basalt rock and recycled steel slag. | 1 Point for 10% |
| MR Credit 4: Recycled Content 20% | Plus 1 Point for 20% | |
| MR Credit 5: Regional Materials: 20% Extracted, Processed & Manufactured Regionally 800 km (by road) of the project site, OR 2400 km (shipped by rail or water), OR a combination of the above with 5% shipped by road and 5% shipped by rail/water.) If only a fraction of a product is extracted, harvested, recovered, processed and manufactured locally, then only that percentage (by weight) must contribute to the regional value. | Roxul has two strategically located plants – one in Ontario and another in British Columbia – both are near highly populated areas and in close proximity to major transportation routes. Project site distances would have to be calculated for eligible Points. | 1 Point for 20% |
| MR Credit 5: Regional Materials: 30% Extracted, Processed & Manufactured Regionally (same as above) | Plus 1 more point for 30% | |
| Indoor Environmental Quality | ||
| EQ Credit 3.2: Indoor Air Quality Management Plan – Before Occupancy | Roxul meets – or is significantly below – the maximum concentration criteria of IAQ pollutants set out by LEED. By minimizing the indoor air quality pollutant potential, the comfort and well-being of the construction workers and building occupants are enhanced. Roxul products offer a higher R-value. This minimizes thermal cycling due to external conditions, contributing to a more comfortable thermal environment. | 1 Point |
| EQ Credit 7.1: Thermal Comfort Design | 1 Point | |
| Innovation & Design Process | ||
| ID Credit 1 | Roxul products provide superior thermal, acoustical, and fire performance. | 1 to 5 Points |
