Posh Hotel Extends Unparalleled Quality with Choice of Superior Insulation
MILTON, ONTARIO – Jan 3, 2012 – The origins of Roxul’s new RockBoard® PG insulation for parking garages all started with a good relationship, a challenge, and the development of a great idea. It began at the Ritz-Carlton – the home-away-from home for sports stars and A-list celebs like Brad Pitt, Sting and the Rolling Stones. When the luxury hotel company began development of its hotel/condominium project in Toronto, its insistence on quality materials extended to every detail - including the insulation.
The team behind the visually stunning 53-story Ritz-Carlton - Page and Steele Architects and Graywood Developments - chose Roxul insulation for use throughout the gleaming tower, including the hotel's parking garage. Roxul stone wool insulation is very well suited to the unique environment of parking garages, and it has been used extensively in these applications. However, it was the Ritz-Carlton project that prompted the development of RockBoard® PG – a dedicated insulation product for use in
parking garages.
The Roxul commercial team worked closely with the development team and General Contractor, Ellis Don, on product specifications to meet the Ritz-Carlton's high standards. Following completion of the high profile hotel/condominium, and the use of 1,858 square meters of white-faced Roxul insulation in the parking garage, RockBoard® PG was born.
Designed For Energy Savings and Aesthetics
"This noteworthy project was really the catalyst to add an insulation dedicated to parking garage applications to our line-up," said Wendy Pole, Segment Manager for Roxul's Building Envelope division. "RockBoard® PG is designed specifically for use in underground parking lots. It offers excellent thermal characteristics, and its reflective white facing can reduce lighting investment costs and increase the general aesthetics of parking garages."
In addition to its energy saving qualities, Roxul Rockboard® PG delivers excellent acoustical performance to help create a quieter environment. This is the result of the multi-directional fiber orientation and density of Roxul stone wool. RockBoard's excellent sound-dampening and non-combustible characteristics also make it ideal for other applications, such as buffering the drone from noisy mechanical rooms.
"RockBoard® PG is a great compliment to our portfolio of commercial insulation products and we're already seeing a great deal of interest in it for high-rise garage projects," added Pole. "The initial success comes not only from the product itself, but also from Roxul's strong partnerships with building owners, designers and developers. They know Roxul makes high quality insulation products, and are always interested in using our insulation in new applications."
